A historical collection of magnitude, depth, and epicentre data for regional seismic events

Recorded Seismic Activity and Earthquake History Near Rašeliniště U jezera – Cínovecké rašeliniště

This catalogue provides a structured record of seismic events identified by their geographic proximity to the Rašeliniště U jezera – Cínovecké rašeliniště nature reserve. The collection organizes historical data points including dates, event magnitudes, and epicentre distances to offer a clear overview of seismic occurrences within this mountain region of the Ústecký kraj. These records rely on external scientific data to map historical activity surrounding the high-elevation peatlands of the Ore Mountains.

Rašeliniště U jezera, Cínovecké rašeliniště

Rašeliniště U jezera – Cínovecké rašeliniště is a small nature reserve in northern Bohemia, situated on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains near the border with Saxony. It protects a remnant of raised bog habitat at an elevation of roughly 860 to 870 meters, a landscape type that has become exceptionally rare in the heavily industrialized Krušné hory range. The reserve is valued for its surviving peat-forming vegetation and for the specialized plant and animal communities that depend on these cold, waterlogged conditions. It forms part of a broader cross-border conservation picture, continuing ecologically onto the German side where the Georgenfelder Hochmoor lies just across the frontier. Although modest in area, the site has disproportionate ecological importance within the Ústecký kraj region. It preserves a functioning example of an endangered montane peatland ecosystem that has otherwise been pushed to the margins by centuries of mining, forestry, and acid rain pressure across the Ore Mountains.
