Tiefenbachtal Landscape Protection Area

The Tiefenbachtal Landscape Protection Area is a small protected landscape in the municipality of Beuren, in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Covering about 35 hectares, it safeguards a section of the Tiefenbach valley on the edge of the Middle Alb Foreland, where gently rolling farmland transitions toward the rising edge of the Swabian Alb. The valley combines open meadows with woodland patches, forming a typical mosaic of the pre-Alb foothills in this part of southwestern Germany. Designated on 15 October 1958, the protected area emerged from an earlier, broader landscape protection order that had covered the entire Tiefenbachtal since 1940. When neighboring reserves were reorganized, a stretch of the valley near the Sonnenhof farm remained unprotected and was consequently set aside as its own landscape protection area. Its main purpose is to secure and maintain the ecologically valuable mix of meadows and forest that defines this part of the valley for the long term. Although modest in extent, the area is part of the larger network of landscape protection areas in the Esslingen district, sitting alongside other protected valleys and escarpment zones associated with the Swabian Alb fringe. Its importance lies less in dramatic scenery than in the continuity of traditional valley landscapes that remain characteristic of the region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
