Dumanquilas Protected Landscape/Seascape

Dumanquilas Protected Landscape/Seascape is a protected area in the western Philippines, spanning the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay on the Zamboanga Peninsula. It centers on Dumanquilas Bay and combines terrestrial, coastal, and marine protection in a single designation, making it one of the few integrated landscape and seascape reserves in the region. The reserve was established on 10 August 1999 through Presidential Proclamation No. 158, covering roughly 25,948 hectares across the bay, its islands, and adjacent coastline. A buffer zone in the Celebes Sea adds an additional several thousand hectares of managed marine space. Its purpose is to safeguard the mangrove forests lining the bay and to maintain healthy fish stocks that support both biodiversity and local livelihoods. The bay itself has been recognized as one of the important ecotourism destinations in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
