Fuchslochhalde, Ruckenhalde, Steighalde

Fuchslochhalde, Ruckenhalde, Steighalde is a small landscape protection area (Landschaftsschutzgebiet) in the municipality of Pfronstetten in the Reutlingen district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The protected area covers roughly 57 hectares of the south-facing slope of the Tiefental, a dry valley typical of the Mittlere Flächenalb, the middle section of the Swabian Alb plateau. It stretches as a narrow band for more than four kilometers from the Steighalde in the west to the Ruckenhalde in the east. The landscape reflects centuries of traditional land use. South-facing slopes once grazed by sheep still show patches of juniper heath (Wacholderheide), a habitat characteristic of the Swabian Alb. A former quarry is also included within the protected boundary. The reserve was designated in 1955 by the former Landratsamt Münsingen and is now administered by the Landratsamt Reutlingen. It also forms part of the larger Glastal, Großer Buchwald und Tautschbuch FFH site, linking its conservation value to the wider Natura 2000 network on the Swabian Alb.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
