Hangflächen um die Pfefferburg

Hangflächen um die Pfefferburg is a small nature-protected landscape in the northern part of the municipality of Schönaich in the district of Böblingen, in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Classified as a Landschaftsschutzgebiet under Germany's protected landscape framework and aligned with the IUCN Category V (Protected Landscape/Seascape), the site preserves a characteristic hillside where traditional orchard meadows, meadows, and spring-fed wet grassland meet the edge of a residential area. The protected area covers roughly 25 hectares on the southern slope of the Pfefferberg hill, just below the Rauher Kapf neighborhood, and sits within the broader Schönbuch and Glemswald natural region. Its purpose is to maintain the scenic and ecological value of the Streuobstbestände, the traditional fruit tree meadows, and to secure the species-rich wet meadows and their associated vegetation. Together with neighboring protected landscapes, including Glemswald to the north and Hochberg to the south, it forms part of a wider network of protected countryside around Stuttgart. Its significance lies less in scale than in cultural landscape character. The area combines a moderately dry, well-drained Lias weathering substrate with spring-influenced wet zones, producing a small but ecologically diverse mosaic that is increasingly rare in the densely populated Stuttgart metropolitan region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
