Skalsko Natural Monument

Skalsko Natural Monument is a small protected area in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated on the Říčany Plateau northwest of the village of Skalsko. It straddles the boundary between the Praha-západ and Praha-východ administrative districts, near the settlements of Pohoří and Kostelec u Křížků, placing it within easy reach of the greater Prague area while still occupying a quiet rural landscape. The protected area was established in 2008 to safeguard wetland communities of the kind that once characterized much of the Říčany Plateau. Its core focus is the conservation of wet meadows that host a range of specially protected plants and animals, including several orchid and iris species, as well as amphibians and butterflies tied to damp, open habitats. Although modest in size, the monument represents a typical surviving fragment of the traditional Central Bohemian upland landscape. Its value lies in the combination of relict wet meadow vegetation, distinctive geology, and habitat for species that depend on well-managed open wetland environments.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
