Fundy National Park occupies a striking position along the Bay of Fundy in southeastern New Brunswick, protecting a landscape of exceptional geographic and ecological diversity. The park's coastline experiences the most extreme tidal variations on the planet, with water levels rising and falling up to 15 metres twice each day. This relentless tidal cycle shapes every aspect of the park's character, from the exposed ocean floor that reveals itself at low tide to the dramatic shoreline transformation at high tide. The land rises sharply from the tidal shores up through forested slopes to reach the Canadian Highlands, creating a compressed landscape where multiple ecological zones exist in close proximity. The park encompasses over 25 waterfalls, many of which cascade directly from the highland plateaus down to the coastal shores. More than 100 kilometres of hiking and biking trails traverse this varied terrain, connecting visitors with the park's forests, bogs, river valleys, and coastal vistas. The park also offers built amenities including campgrounds, a golf course designed by Stanley Thompson, and a heated saltwater swimming pool near Alma. Fundy serves as the northern counterpart to Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Highlands on the opposite side of the Bay of Fundy, with the park offering views across the bay to the Nova Scotia coastline on clear days.
