Łąki w Sławkowie

Łąki w Sławkowie is a small protected habitat area in southern Poland, situated in the Silesian Voivodeship west of the town of Sławków. Although modest in scale, the site is significant within the Natura 2000 network, recognized at the European Union level as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) for the long-term protection of endangered natural habitats and species. The area consists of four connected enclaves of semi-natural grassland and wetland habitat. Its core value lies in preserving wet meadow communities and calcareous fen ecosystems that have become rare across the Polish countryside as a result of drainage, agricultural intensification, and land conversion. Importantly, the site safeguards populations of threatened plant and animal species that depend on these specific hydrological and ecological conditions. The combination of relict habitat types and the presence of highly specialized species makes Łąki w Sławkowie a meaningful, if compact, component of Poland's Natura 2000 protected-area system.
