Miliovy louky

Miliovy louky is a small natural monument in the Hodonín district of South Moravia, in the southeastern corner of the Czech Republic. The site protects roughly eight hectares of semi-natural dry grasslands and mesophilic meadows set in gently sloping terrain near the villages of Blatnička and Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem. Although modest in size, it is a regionally important refuge for xerothermic plant communities that have become rare across the intensively farmed Moravian countryside. The reserve is part of the European Natura 2000 network, recognized as a Site of Community Importance for the biological richness of its dry steppe vegetation. It falls under IUCN Category IV, a designation reserved for areas managed primarily to protect particular species or habitats. Even though the surrounding landscape is dominated by cultivated fields, the protected meadows of Miliovy louky preserve a surviving fragment of the open, flower-rich grassland that once characterized the warmer lowlands of southern Moravia. Within this compact area, conservation efforts focus on maintaining the open character of the meadows, preventing encroachment by shrubs and trees, and sustaining the delicate xerothermic conditions that support an unusually diverse mix of dryland and meadow species. The combination of protected status, ecological value, and proximity to traditional Moravian farming communities makes the site a small but meaningful piece of the region's natural heritage.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
