Poradów

Poradów is a small Natura 2000 site in southern Poland, designated to protect valuable habitat types on the Miechów Upland in the Małopolskie voivodeship. The site lies within the Gmina Miechów, between the localities of Poradów and Parkoszowice, and sits within the broader Protected Landscape Area of the Miechów Upland. Despite its small size of just over eleven hectares, the area conserves three distinct habitat types listed under the European Union Habitats Directive: juniper scrub on calcareous grasslands, xerothermic, or dry and warm-loving, grassland of the Inuletum ensifoliae type, and oak-hornbeam forest, a Central European deciduous woodland community known in Polish as grąd. The botanical richness of these intertwined habitats has made the site notable for conservation. Numerous plant species that are protected, rare, or locally threatened grow here, including several orchids and steppe-like flowering plants characteristic of dry limestone-rich landscapes.
