Wartbiegel - Katharinenlinde und Umgebung was formally designated as a protected landscape on 16 November 1987 by ordinance of the Untere Naturschutzbehörde (Lower Nature Conservation Authority) at the Landratsamt Ludwigsburg. It received the official LSG number 1.18.012 and was subsequently registered internationally in the World Database on Protected Areas under WDPA ID 325658.
