Kluckbachtal

Kluckbachtal is a designated nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the city of Monschau, in the Städteregion Aachen of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Covering roughly 113 hectares, it lies in the valley between the villages of Rohren and Höfen, centered on the Kluckbach stream as it flows toward the Rur river. The reserve protects a mosaic of habitats typical of the so-called Monschauer Heckenland, a landscape of small fields, hedgerows, meadows, and old orchards. Steep valley slopes carry nutrient-poor grassland (Magerrasen), wet meadows, broom shrub (Ginstergebüsch), remnant hedgerows, traditional orchard meadows (Streuobstwiesen), and rows of mature oak and alder, while the stream itself widens to about five meters near its mouth, where a mixed hornbeam forest stands at the confluence with the Rur. Established in 1997 and refined in 2004, Kluckbachtal is protected primarily for its stream and valley habitats, listed under the EU Habitats Directive (FFH). It harbors a notable concentration of Red List species in North Rhine-Westphalia, including kingfisher, black woodpecker, grey-headed woodpecker, the yellow wild daffodil (Gelbe Narzisse), and the bullhead fish (Groppe).

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
