Kościół w Górkach Wielkich

Kościół w Górkach Wielkich is a Natura 2000 Special Area of Conservation in southern Poland, designated because of the bat colonies that roost in the attic of a historic parish church. The protected site covers the church of All Saints in Górki Wielkie, a small village in the Brenna commune of Cieszyn Silesia, in the Silesian Voivodeship. The core of the site is a Gothic parish church first built in the 15th century on the foundations of an earlier chapel, later remodeled in 1662 and again in the 19th century. The church and its directly adjacent grounds were entered into the European Natura 2000 network as a habitat protection area, making the building itself a legally protected natural site of regional importance for bat conservation. The area is notable because it supports one of the most valuable bat assemblages in the region, with large summer colonies of greater mouse-eared bat and lesser horseshoe bat using the church attic as a roost.
