Naturschutzgebiet Ölsiefental

Naturschutzgebiet Ölsiefental is a small nature reserve located in the municipality of Kürten, within the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The reserve follows the course of the Ölsiefen stream from southeast of the village of Engeldorf down to its mouth where it joins the Sülz river, taking in the surrounding slopes and the northern spring headwaters of the valley. The protected landscape combines a near-natural stream and spring system with extensive deciduous mixed forest on the valley slopes and wet grassland habitats along the watercourse. Its protected-area designation focuses on the conservation and development of this mosaic of woodland, wetland and flowing-water habitats, which are characteristic of the smaller stream valleys of the Bergisches Land. Although compact in size, the reserve represents an important example of the moist valley ecosystems that once shaped the rural landscape between Cologne and the Bergisches uplands. Together with other protected areas in Kürten, it contributes to the regional network of small nature reserves that safeguard stream corridors, spring mires and species-rich deciduous forest fragments.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
