Środkowy Dunajec z dopływami is a Polish Natura 2000 Special Area of Conservation (specjalny obszar ochrony siedlisk), designated under the code PLH120088. The site is located in the Małopolska voivodeship in southern Poland and covers an area of roughly 755 hectares organized in four connected enclaves along the middle course of the Dunajec River and its tributaries. The area was established to secure the long-term protection of natural habitats and populations of threatened animal species, with particular focus on freshwater fauna. Its conservation targets include two notable fish species: the Mediterranean barbel (brzanka, Barbus meridionalis) and the bullhead (głowacz białopłetwy, Cottus gobio). Beyond its species-specific focus, the site safeguards characteristic riverine and streamside habitats typical of mountain and sub-mountain watercourses in the Carpathian foothills, including pioneer vegetation on river gravel banks, willow and tamarisk shrub communities, and riparian forests of willow, poplar, alder, and ash along the river corridor.
