Warta River Mouth National Park

Warta River Mouth National Park is a protected wetland area in western Poland, situated where the Warta River meets the Oder near the town of Kostrzyn nad Odrą, on the border with Germany. Created in 2001 from the merger of the Słońsk nature reserve and a portion of the Ujście Warty Landscape Park, it is Poland's youngest national park and one of its most important lowland wetland reserves. The park centers on the floodplains, marshes, and wet meadows shaped by the Postomia River and the seasonal overflow of the Warta into the Oder. These open, water-saturated landscapes support one of the densest and most diverse bird communities in Poland, making the reserve a major stronghold for waterfowl and waders. Beyond its ecological significance, the park is a destination for quiet nature-based recreation, with walking and cycling trails, observation hides, and interpretation paths running through grasslands that are also grazed by traditional land-use practices such as horse and cattle pasturing.
