Babski Las Nature Reserve

Babski Las Nature Reserve is a forest nature reserve in the Częstochowa Upland of southern Poland, within the Silesian Voivodeship. Established as a strict-protecton (ochrona ścisła) reserve, it safeguards a forest landscape that is uncommon for the region and particularly unusual for its northern reaches. The reserve is recognized for a rare Balkan-type fir forest that is rarely found elsewhere in the Silesian Voivodeship, complemented by swampy alder woods and old pendunculate oaks of monumental size. Together with its buffer zone, Babski Las forms a coherent protected complex partially overlapping with the Stawki Landscape Park, allowing the forest mosaic and its associated species to persist under strong protection. Beyond its forest character, the reserve is valued for hosting a spectrum of rare plants, fungi, amphibians, reptiles, and birds, several of which are considered unusual in this part of Poland. The combination of forest type, old-growth trees, and species richness gives Babski Las a distinctive identity among Poland's woodland reserves.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
