Bellinger Berg

Bellinger Berg is a nature reserve and European Habitats Directive (FFH) site in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse, in central Germany. It protects a compact, roughly 345-meter-high Muschelkalk (shell-limestone) cone north-west of the village of Bellings, a district of Steinau an der Straße. The reserve is small, at about 95 hectares, and was formally designated in 1985, with FFH status added in 2008. Its purpose is to preserve this distinctive limestone landform as a refuge for a number of rare and threatened animal and plant species. The area combines dry calcareous grasslands, scrub, and woodland on a single isolated hill, which is its main conservation value. Although modest in size, Bellinger Berg is a representative example of the limestone hills that dot the eastern fringe of the Spessart, and it contributes to the broader network of small protected sites that maintain habitat diversity across the region.

Inspect Bellinger Berg records by date, magnitude, depth, reported place, and distance

Explore historical earthquake observations around Bellinger Berg

For Bellinger Berg, catalogue inclusion reflects an earthquake’s reported epicentre and computed distance from the protected limestone hill; it does not mean the event began or occurred inside the reserve. Users can examine the recorded time, magnitude, depth, locality, park distance, and linked source as historical evidence without inferring effects, causation, current risk, or future seismicity.
