Bugong National Park

Bugong National Park is a strict nature reserve located in southeastern New South Wales, Australia, approximately 14 kilometers northwest of Nowra. The park covers an area of 10.22 square kilometers and was established on January 1, 2001 as part of the southern New South Wales Regional Forest Agreement. The park sits in the traditional country of the Jerrinja Tribe and comprises two disjunct sections: a small northern portion and a much larger southern section. Roughly half of the park occupies a small plateau below the Cambewarra range, while the remaining area consists of steeply sloping valleys traversed by Bugong Creek, Kellets Creek, and the Shoalhaven River. The park is connected to the larger Morton National Park via Crown land and may be expanded in the future. As an IUCN Category Ia protected area, Bugong maintains strict protection as a nature reserve with minimal visitor infrastructure.
