The protected area covers roughly 3.1 hectares of traditional cultural landscape, characterized by meadowland on moderately fresh Jurassic (Lias) slope loam soils. It adjoins the Hochberg protected landscape to the north and west, forming part of a network of small landscape protection areas that preserve characteristic rural scenery in the Stuttgart region. The site is valued above all for its traditional orchard meadows (Streuobstwiesen), open grassland and wet meadow vegetation, which together maintain a visually attractive and ecologically meaningful mosaic of habitats just outside the Schönbuch forest area.
