Meandry Botiče

Meandry Botiče is a small protected natural area in the southeastern outskirts of Prague that safeguards a naturally meandering section of the Botič stream together with its bankside vegetation. Declared in 1968 and reclassified in 1993 as a přírodní památka (natural monument), it forms part of the broader Hostivař to Záběhlice Natural Park and the so-called Trojmezí area near the Hostivař Reservoir. The site is notable for combining a typical lowland stream meander system with surprisingly rich ecological value inside the city, including riparian woodland, watercourses and farmland fringes. It is recognized for protected and endangered bird species, an assemblage of aquatic animals, and a layered flora that mixes native willows and alders with invasive species requiring active management. Despite its small size, the area carries strong urban nature significance, acting as a refuge for wildlife on the edge of large residential districts and serving as a place where ecological management, recreation, and conservation come into close contact.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
