Mittleres Lonetal

Mittleres Lonetal is a designated protected landscape, formally known as a Landschaftsschutzgebiet, located in the Alb-Donau-Kreis district of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany. It stretches along the middle section of the Lone valley, a tributary valley cut into the limestone plateau of the Swabian Alb. The protected area covers roughly 3,158 hectares and spans twelve municipalities, including Asselfingen, Ballendorf, Bernstadt, Börslingen, Breitingen, Holzkirch, Langenau, Neenstetten, Nerenstetten, Öllingen, Rammingen, and Setzingen. It belongs to the natural region known as the Lonetal-Flächenalb, a transitional landscape where the gently undulating Swabian Alb drops toward the Danube lowlands. The area is valued for its mix of meadow dales, broadleaf forest, juniper heathland, traditional orchards, and small geological exposures that together define a characteristic piece of the Swabian Alb countryside. Within its borders lies the Breitinger Schönrain nature reserve, a tighter protection zone fully enclosed by the surrounding landscape protection area.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
