Neuffen auf Gemarkungen Neuffen und Kappishäusern

Neuffen auf Gemarkungen Neuffen und Kappishäusern is a protected landscape in the Landkreis Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, established on 10 August 1993. Covering roughly 13.41 square kilometers, it forms two adjoining zones that fully wrap around the town of Neuffen and its smaller district of Kappishäusern on the edge of the Swabian Alb. The area belongs to the natural regions of the Mittlere Kuppenalb and the Mittleres Albvorland, sitting at the transition between the Swabian Alb escarpment and its foreland. The protection order focuses on preserving the steep flanks, slope springs, beech woodlands, heath patches, vineyards, traditional orchards, and the riparian vegetation along the Steinach river that together give the area its distinctive rural character. It lies entirely within the larger Biosphärengebiet Schwäbische Alb and overlaps in part with the Natura 2000 site Alb zwischen Jusi und Teck. Although it is a relatively compact landscape protection area rather than a national park, it plays an important local role by safeguarding rare habitats, providing nearby recreation space, and shaping the visual setting of one of the most recognizable castle sites on the Swabian Alb, the Hohenneuffen.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
