Neuwoogmoor

The Neuwoogmoor is a designated nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, straddling the border between the districts of Kaiserslautern and Kusel. Covering roughly 60 hectares, the protected area preserves a surviving fragment of the once extensive peat mires of the Landstuhler Bruch, a historic lowland wetland landscape in the western Palatinate region. At the heart of the reserve lies a mosaic of wetland habitats that are now rare in the region, including peat bog pools with characteristic hummocks and hollows, reed beds, large sedge marshes, bog woodland, and both standing and running water bodies. These habitats shelter rare plant species and plant communities and serve as vital refuges for uncommon animal life, alongside their recognized scientific value for understanding southern German mire ecosystems. As a classified habitat and species management area under IUCN Category IV, the Neuwoogmoor represents one of the small but ecologically significant remnants of the Palatinate's moorland heritage, situated within the municipalities of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau and Schönenberg-Kübelberg.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
