Ostoja Złotopotocka

Ostoja Złotopotocka is a special area of habitat conservation (Special Obszar Ochrony Siedlisk) within the European Natura 2000 network, located in the Silesian Voivodeship of southern Poland. It sits on the Częstochowa Upland, a region characterized by Jurassic limestone terrain, extensive beech and fir forests, and a network of caves developed in calcareous bedrock. The site covers roughly 2,748 hectares arranged as two connected enclaves. Its purpose is the long-term protection of natural habitats and populations of endangered animal species other than birds, alongside a wide suite of habitat types defined under the European Habitats Directive. The protected area is ecologically significant because it preserves a mosaic of forest communities, inland dunes, alkaline fens, and inaccessible caves. Together these habitats support rare amphibians, cave-dwelling bats, stream-dwelling fish, and saproxylic beetles, making the site a meaningful component of Poland's Natura 2000 network.
