Park Krajobrazowy Beskidu Śląskiego

Park Krajobrazowy Beskidu Śląskiego is a protected landscape park in southern Poland, located in the Silesian Voivodeship within the Western Carpathians. It safeguards two main forested mountain ranges of the Silesian Beskids: the Czantoria range and the Barania Góra range, forming a continuous belt of wooded ridges, valleys, and mountain streams. The park is unusually significant for hydrology as well as scenery: the Biała Wisełka and Czarna Wisełka streams, which merge to form the Vistula, Poland's longest river, both originate within park boundaries. This dual ecological and cultural significance gives the park a strong sense of place beyond its purely scenic character. Beyond its role as a landscape protector, the park encompasses a network of nature reserves preserving the best examples of Carpathian forest communities, including old-growth spruce stands, beech forests, and rare rock and cave features. It is both a working traditional landscape, shaped by centuries of mountain communities, and a refuge for wildlife ranging from black grouse and Eurasian lynx to brown bear.
