Pujada Bay Protected Seascape

Pujada Bay Protected Seascape is a coastal protected area on the southeastern coast of Mindanao in the Philippines. Encompassing roughly 21,200 hectares along the shoreline of Pujada Bay in the province of Davao Oriental, it was established in 1994 under Presidential Proclamation 431 to safeguard a marine and coastal system of considerable ecological value. The seascape combines mangrove forests, seagrass meadows, and fringing coral communities within a single bay. Several rivers and streams descending from the surrounding hills feed into the bay, including the Catmonan, Dawan, Dilaon, Mati, Matiao, and Guang-Guang waterways. Together, these habitats support a coastal ecosystem that has become one of the more biologically significant bays in the Davao region. The protected area is an important component of Mindanao's network of marine and coastal reserves, contributing to local fisheries, shoreline stability, and biodiversity conservation. Its proximity to Mati City, the capital of Davao Oriental, makes it both a conservation site and a defining geographic feature of the province's eastern coast.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
