Sulejów Landscape Park

Sulejów Landscape Park is a protected landscape area in the Łódzkie Voivodeship of central Poland, centered on the middle section of the Pilica river valley. Established in 1994, the park runs from the southern reaches near Skotniki and Łęg Ręczyński up to the northern edge near Smardzewice and Tomaszów Mazowiecki, and incorporates the large Sulejów Reservoir created on the Pilica in the 1970s. The landscape combines forested valley slopes, sandy terraces, and a substantial stretch of inland water, creating a varied mosaic of woodland, meadows, peat-forming wet flats, and riverine habitat. The park forms part of the Nadpiliczne group of landscape parks, alongside the Przedbórz and Spała landscape parks, linking together one of the most important protected corridor systems along the Pilica. Beyond its scenic and recreational value, the park is significant for protecting characteristic lowland forest stands, including fir, spruce, beech, maple, and sycamore, as well as rare habitat patches such as limestone grasslands and sandy-peat meadow communities. Together with its surrounding buffer zone, it anchors a network of nature reserves that further strengthen the conservation value of the central Pilica valley.
