Uniejów Parcele

Uniejów Parcele is a small protected natural area in the Małopolskie Voivodeship of southern Poland. Designated under the European Union's Natura 2000 network with the site code PLH120075, it functions as a Site of Community Importance for the conservation of natural habitats. The area covers only 3.7 hectares but represents an important fragment of the Miechów Upland landscape in the Charsznica commune. The site is valued primarily for two rare habitat types listed under Annex I of the EU Habitats Directive: xerothermic grassland of the Inuletum ensifoliae community and oak-hornbeam forest (Tilio-Carpinetum). These habitats shelter a notable concentration of protected and threatened plant species, including several orchids and other rare taxa characteristic of warm, dry southern Polish uplands. Despite its very small size, Uniejów Parcele holds significant value within the broader Protected Landscape Area of the Miechów Upland. It illustrates how tiny habitat fragments can play an outsized role in sustaining the region's botanical diversity, particularly species tied to traditional, semi-open landscapes shaped by long-term human activity.
