A river-carved landscape on the Wieluńska Jura, where the Warta bends through a Jurassic plateau.
Załęczański Landscape Park
Załęczański Landscape Park is a protected landscape area in central Poland, lying within the Wieluńska Upland northwest of Częstochowa. It was the first landscape park established in central Poland when it was created in 1978, and it covers a large loop of the Warta River together with the river's two breakthrough gorges through the surrounding Jurassic plateau. The park protects a distinctive piece of the Polish Jura (Jura Polska), where limestone hills, sinkholes, caves, and karst springs combine with a wide river valley and extensive forests. Wooded slopes rise above river meanders, oxbow lakes, and old river channels, creating a varied mosaic of habitats that supports rich flora and a wide range of animal life. At the regional level, the park is an important anchor for nature-based exploration in the Łódzkie, Opolskie and Śląskie voivodeships. Its trail network, documented caves, nature reserves, and historical monuments make it a focal point for hiking, cycling, and outdoor education in this part of the country.
