Babia Góra National Park
Babia Góra National Park is one of Poland's 23 national parks, situated in the southern part of the country along the border with Slovakia in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The park encompasses the northern and part of the southern slopes of the Babia Góra massif, protecting one of the Carpathian Mountains' most ecologically significant locations. Its headquarters are located in the village of Zawoja. The park was established as a nature reserve in 1933 and officially became a national park on October 30, 1954. In 1976, UNESCO designated the area as a biosphere reserve, recognizing its exceptional ecological value and well-preserved natural ecosystems. The park covers 33.92 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, approximately 85% of which is covered by forests, making it a compact but scientifically important protected area in the Polish Carpathians.
