Bohemian Switzerland National Park

Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a protected area in the northwestern Czech Republic, established in 2000 as part of the broader Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland region that spans both Czech and German territory. The park covers 79 square kilometers of the eastern Czech portion of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, a unique geological landscape characterized by towering sandstone cliffs, deep canyon-like valleys, dramatic rock formations, and the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe. The park sits on the right bank of the Elbe River, northeast of Děčín, and shares its western border with Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany, creating a transboundary protected area of significant ecological and scenic value. The region takes its name from 18th-century Swiss artists Adrian Zingg and Anton Graff, who were reminded of their homeland by the dramatic terrain.
