Chęcińsko-Kielecki Landscape Park

Chęcińsko-Kielecki Landscape Park is a protected landscape area (park krajobrazowy) in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of central Poland, set on the foothills to the south and southwest of the regional capital Kielce. It lies within the broader Świętokrzyskie mountain region and preserves a mosaic of forested hills, valleys, limestone outcrops, and rural landscapes that connect the city of Kielce with the historic town of Chęciny. The park is notable for the unusually high concentration of inanimate nature reserves inside its boundaries, most of which protect caves, rocky hills, and geological exposures that document the long and unusual geological history of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Beyond its geological character, the landscape park also contains important forest habitats, traditional rural scenery, and substantial cultural heritage, including the prominent Piast castle at Chęciny and the open-air ethnographic museum outside Tokarnia. Established in the mid-1990s as part of the post-1989 expansion of landscape-level protection in Poland, it functions as a buffer of natural and historical value around Kielce and as a recreational and educational corridor linking the city with the surrounding countryside.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
