Côte de Delme Regional Nature Reserve

The Réserve naturelle régionale de la côte de Delme is a regional nature reserve in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France. Established in 2007, it protects around 105 hectares of dry calcareous grassland on the slopes of a butte témoin, a limestone outlier known as the Côte de Delme. The reserve lies between the small towns of Château-Salins and Delme and covers parts of the communes of Juville, Liocourt, Puzieux and Xocourt. Its defining feature is a Jurassic limestone hill rising above the surrounding plain, where thin, nutrient-poor soils and rapid drainage have produced a distinctive dry grassland habitat. This habitat supports more than 300 plant species, including Mediterranean-affinity plants that are rare in Lorraine, and gives the reserve its importance for orchid-rich grassland, butterflies, bats, reptiles and a varied breeding bird community. Managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Lorraine, the reserve represents an unusual convergence of geological history, traditional pastoral management and modern conservation policy in a region better known for its forests and agricultural lowlands. It is also part of the Natura 2000 network, extending its profile beyond local protection toward European habitat conservation.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
