Jervis Bay Marine Park

Jervis Bay Marine Park is a marine protected area on the southern coast of New South Wales, Australia, established in 1998 by the Government of New South Wales. It covers roughly 210 square kilometers and stretches along more than 100 kilometers of coastline from Kinghorn Point in the north to Sussex Inlet in the south. The park is recognized for its clear bays, wave-cut rocky headlands, kelp forests, seagrass meadows, and the marine communities they support. The marine park was created to conserve biological diversity while still allowing a range of recreational and commercial activities. Its current zoning plan, in place since late 2002, divides the area into zones that regulate fishing, boating, and other uses to balance ecological protection with sustainable human activity. As part of Australia's broader effort to meet its obligations under the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, the park represents one of several state-level marine reserves established to safeguard coastal ecosystems. Jervis Bay is notable both ecologically and for its scenic value, with beaches popular for swimming and diving and offshore features such as Moes Rock drawing attention to the rugged character of the coast. The combination of sheltered embayments and exposed shoreline gives the park a varied underwater and intertidal environment, making it an important site for marine research, conservation, and public enjoyment.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
