Lande de la Flotte et du Cluzeau

The Lande de la Flotte et du Cluzeau is a protected heathland in the Haute-Vienne department of central-western France, spanning the communes of Château-Chervix and Meuzac. It lies at the foot of the Monts de Fayat on the Limousin plateau, where unusual outcrops of serpentinite rock create an open, low-growing habitat that contrasts sharply with the surrounding farmland and small woodlands. The site was designated in 1993 as a regional nature reserve (Réserve naturelle régionale), recognizing the importance of its serpentine geology and the distinctive plant communities it supports. Together with nearby heathland sites, including the Lande de Saint-Laurent and the Lande des Pierres du Mas, it forms part of the Natura 2000 network of "serpentine heaths and grasslands of southern Haute-Vienne." Ecologically, the reserve stands out for its mix of regionally rare species adapted to dry, metal-rich serpentine soils, from specialized ferns and rock carnations to protected gentians and heathland grasses. Its combination of geological rarity, botanical interest, and ongoing pastoral management makes it a notable conservation site within the Limousin region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
