Mszary Tuczyńskie Nature Reserve

Mszary Tuczyńskie is a small peatland nature reserve in northwestern Poland, located on the northeastern shore of Lake Tuczno near the town of the same name. Established in January 1988, the reserve covers only about 7.22 hectares, yet it protects a highly varied mosaic of wetland, meadow, and dry grassland habitats that are uncommon in their local combination. The reserve lies within the Protected Landscape Area of the Drawa Forest and simultaneously inside the buffer zone of Drawieński National Park, placing it within one of the most ecologically significant forest regions of western Poland. Its core purpose is to preserve a spring-fed calcareous peatland along with adjacent meadows and xerothermic grasslands, creating a richly structured habitat gradient within a very compact territory. The site is notable for its concentration of strictly protected vascular plants and bryophytes, including several orchid species and a range of characteristic mosses. Despite its modest size, Mszary Tuczyńskie functions as a botanically important refugium and an example of how active conservation can be applied within a fragmented lowland landscape.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
