Narriearra Caryapundy Swamp National Park

Narriearra Caryapundy Swamp National Park is a newly established protected area in the far northwest of New South Wales, Australia. Created in 2020 through the largest ever purchase of private land for conservation in the state, the park encompasses approximately 153,415 hectares of semi-arid rangeland and ephemeral wetland systems. The property was acquired when the New South Wales Government purchased the Narriearra cattle station, bringing under protection a landscape that had never before been included in the state's conservation estate. The park forms a nearly contiguous conservation corridor of about 500,000 hectares together with adjacent Sturt National Park, creating one of the most significant protected landscapes in Australia's outback. The area supports unique ephemeral wetland habitats that fill intermittently, creating vital ecological niches in an otherwise dry landscape.
