Naturpark Vesterhavet

Naturpark Vesterhavet is a coastal nature park on the Danish west coast, stretching along the North Sea shoreline between Blåvandshuk in the north and Nymindegab in the south. The park forms a roughly nine kilometer wide coastal belt that runs about 35 kilometers along the sea, encompassing dunes, heathlands, planted dune forests, and a chain of coastal lakes set between the shoreline and the inland heath plains. The park is dominated by classic West Jutland dune and heath landscapes, but its ecological importance reaches well beyond scenery. Large portions of the area are designated as Natura 2000 sites, including internationally protected bird areas, and the park contains two Ramsar wetland sites of international significance, anchored by the restored Filsø lake and the adjoining Ringkøbing Fjord system near Tipperne. Beyond its conservation role, Naturpark Vesterhavet functions as a regional nature park with a dedicated nature park council made up of local organizations and development groups. The park was inaugurated on 26 April 2015 and combines active landscape restoration, habitat protection, and public recreation in a single large-scale coastal corridor.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
