The park forms part of the East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve together with Poland's Bieszczady National Park, creating a transboundary protected area of significant ecological importance. The highest point within the park reaches 1,208 meters at Mount Kremenec, where the borders of Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine meet.
