Teufenbachtal

Teufenbachtal is a designated protected landscape (Landschaftsschutzgebiet) in the municipality of Niedereschach in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It follows the valley of the Teufenbach stream from the district boundary near Flözlingen to the boundary near Horgen, covering roughly 129 hectares of mixed forest slopes, open meadows, and small-scale farmland. The protected area combines a forested valley landscape with patches of culturally shaped open land, including meadows, fields, and remnants of former juniper heathland. Within the valley lies the artificially created Teufensee, a distinct landmark near the central area of the reserve. Overlapping with parts of the larger FFH (Flora Fauna Habitat) site Baar, Eschach und Südostschwarzwald, Teufenbachtal contributes to a broader network of protected valley landscapes that characterize the eastern edge of the Black Forest and the transition zone toward the Baar plateau. Its establishment in 1989 reflects a regional effort to preserve the valley's mixed woodland character and its relict grassland vegetation, including a notable occurrence of the endemic Spelz-Trespe (Bromus grossus).

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
