FFH-Gebiet Wälder an der Bondenau

FFH-Gebiet Wälder an der Bondenau is a small Natura 2000 protected forest area in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It lies in the Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg, within the municipality of Mittelangeln, and sits in the heart of the Angeln peninsula landscape south of the small Bondenau stream. The site covers approximately 126 hectares and is composed of three spatially separated woodland blocks northwest of the village of Satrup. Designs of these forests are already shown on the 1805 map of the Duchy of Schleswig by the Danish cartographer Johann Heinrich Christian du Plat, indicating that the woodlands have been documented for more than two centuries. The area is protected for its deciduous forest habitats, particularly beech and oak-hornbeam woodland communities, and is owned and managed by the Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesforsten. It is a quiet example of historic lowland forest preserved within the broader Natura 2000 network of European conservation sites.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
