Waldenbachtal

Waldenbachtal is a small protected landscape area in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany. It lies on the territory of the municipality of Dietingen, immediately south of the village district of Rotenzimmern in the Landkreis Rottweil. The reserve is part of the natural region known as the Obere Gäue and protects a narrow, forested valley carved by the Waldenbach stream. The defining feature of the area is a steep, wooded Klingen valley cut into Triassic sandstone of the Middle Keuper, specifically into the Stubensandstein horizons. Coniferous mixed forest dominates most of the reserve, with an opening of species-rich dry grassland only in the northern section, near the built-up edge of Rotenzimmern. The combination of a dramatic small-scale valley, stream corridor, sandstone slopes, and adjacent dry meadow gives the protected area its distinctive character. Although modest in size, Waldenbachtal is ecologically and scenically meaningful within the regional network of protected landscapes in Rottweil district. It preserves a representative example of a forested Keuper valley, a rare dry-grassland opening, and a continuous riparian corridor along the Waldenbach.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
