Zuckerberg-Muckensturm

Zuckerberg-Muckensturm is a protected landscape area in the northeastern part of Stuttgart, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Covering roughly 50 hectares along the right-hand slope of the Neckar river valley, it lies between the city districts of Steinhaldenfeld and Sommerrain and spans parts of the Hofen and Cannstatt administrative districts. The area is shaped by steep valley hillsides that have long been used for viticulture, with vineyards organized into terraces supported by dry stone walls. Above the vineyard slopes, the protected area extends onto a plateau of small-scale agricultural land and allotment gardens. Natural exposures of Muschelkalk limestone, abandoned quarries, and a small woodland patch above a disused quarry give the landscape a layered geological character. Although small compared with major German national parks, Zuckerberg-Muckensturm plays an important local role in preserving the traditional wine-growing cultural landscape on the edge of a large city, while also protecting valuable geological outcrops and habitat mosaics where vineyard terraces meet natural rock formations.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
