Franzosenbuckel

Franzosenbuckel is a small protected landscape area in Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany, located in the town of Murrhardt within the Rems-Murr-Kreis district. The protected site sits on a partially wooded and partially open hill on the right side of the Murr river valley, where the smaller Harbach stream flows into the Murr. Although it covers only about 1.7 hectares, the hill rises prominently from the valley floor and has been shaped both by its natural setting and by human history. The site was designated as a Landschaftsschutzgebiet, a protected landscape under German conservation law, on 15 April 1971, and it was also recognized as a flächenhaftes Naturdenkmal, a broad natural monument. It lies within the natural region known as the Schwäbisch-Fränkische Waldberge, a transitional landscape between the Swabian and Franconian forest ranges, and it remains a compact but locally distinctive piece of protected scenery.
