Heckengelände im Gewand Kaltenberg

Heckengelände im Gewand Kaltenberg is a small landscape protection area (Landschaftsschutzgebiet) located in the municipality of Dunningen in the Rottweil district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Established on 1 February 1953 by ordinance of the Rottweil district office, it covers roughly 20 hectares of farmland interspersed with traditional field hedgerows. The protected site lies at the transition between two geological units of the Upper Muschelkalk, giving it a distinctive subsoil for the regional landscape. The area belongs to the Obere Gäue natural region, a transitional rural landscape between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb. Its character is shaped by the contrast between open agricultural fields and the dense bands of shrubs and small trees that divide them, a classic mosaic pattern of traditional German farmland. As one of many small protected hedgerow complexes in the Rottweil district, the site represents an effort to preserve the agricultural mosaic and the small-scale habitat diversity that hedgerows bring to an otherwise field-dominated landscape.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
