Heckengelände zwischen Dunningen und Seedorf

Heckengelände zwischen Dunningen und Seedorf is a designated protected landscape in the central part of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, located in the Rottweil district east of the community of Dunningen. Covering roughly 753 hectares, it belongs to the natural region of the Obere Gäue, an undulating plateau landscape that sits on the lower layers of the Upper Muschelkalk geological formation. The protected area is notable for preserving a dense network of field hedgerows that interlace fields, meadows, and small geological features across a traditionally structured agricultural landscape. The defining feature of the protected landscape is the concentration of Feldhecken, narrow bands of shrubs and trees that historically marked field boundaries and property divisions. Because these hedges support a rich variety of plant and animal species, including some that are locally rare or threatened, the area has been formally protected since 1993 as a Landschaftsschutzgebiet under the German system of landscape protection areas. Though modest in elevation and largely without forest cover, the area carries strong ecological significance because of its fine-grained mosaic of habitats. A small quarry in the north, loess-loam overlays on the muschelkalk bedrock, and damp hollows filled with Holocene sediments all add to the diversity of microhabitats embedded within the broader agricultural setting.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
