Heckengäu-Weil der Stadt is a protected landscape (Landschaftsschutzgebiet) in the northern part of the Landkreis Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It encircles the town of Weil der Stadt and extends into its surrounding districts of Merklingen, Münklingen and Hausen, forming a ring of 14 separate protected sub-areas around the settlement. The landscape is part of the Heckengäu natural region, a transition zone on the edge of the Black Forest whose name reflects the historic dominance of hedge-bordered fields, stone walls and traditional mixed land use. The protected area combines valley meadows along the Würm river, traditionally managed orchards (Streuobst), forested hilltops such as the Kuppelzen, and a characteristic small-scale mosaic of fields, meadows, hedges and woodland. Its importance lies in preserving a still-intact cultural landscape shaped by centuries of agricultural use, protecting the visual and ecological character of the Heckengäu, and providing a recreational buffer around the historic town of Weil der Stadt in one of the most densely settled regions of Baden-Württemberg.
