Lønborg Hede

Lønborg Hede is a protected habitat area in central-western Denmark, situated in the Central Jutland region within Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality. Designated as Natura 2000 site number 73, it sits west of the Main Stationary Line, roughly five kilometers southeast of Ringkøbing Fjord, and covers approximately 350 hectares of low-lying heath, bog, and small-lake terrain. The site is defined by a distinctive micro-topography where a drier inland heath plateau rises about 10 to 15 meters above surrounding wet heath, bog, and mire habitats. This combination of dry and wet heathland, interspersed with pools, a small stream, and mire communities, gives the area an unusually rich ecological character for an inland Danish site. Surrounded traditionally by farmland to the north and south and by conifer plantations to the east and west, Lønborg Hede represents a surviving fragment of the open heathland landscape that once dominated western Jutland. Its protection reflects both its species-rich habitat mosaic and its historical importance for ground-nesting and heath-dependent birds.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
