Mågerodde og Karby Odde

Mågerodde og Karby Odde is a coastal Natura 2000 site on the western side of the island of Mors in the Limfjorden, in northwestern Denmark. Designated in 2011 as both an EU Habitat Area and a Bird Protection Area, it protects around 497 hectares of shallow fjord waters, coastal meadows, beach ridges, coastal lagoons, and species-rich calcareous and acidic grasslands. The site is defined by a roughly 20 kilometer shoreline along the southern part of Dragstrup Vig and the eastern part of Visby Bredning, including the inlet Karby Vig and the headlands Karby Odde and Mågerodde. Its mosaic of shallow bays, saline beach meadows, lime-rich overdrift, and small spring-fed mires creates one of the most important coastal bird habitats in the Limfjorden. The reserve supports breeding waders and terns as well as internationally significant numbers of migratory waterfowl, including the entire global population of the light-bellied brent goose that stages in Denmark in spring. It is therefore a site of both national and international conservation value.
